I need ideas for a short story, I am hitting writer's block. I am unable to put my ideas into paper even after scribbling some pointers down! How do you handle writer's block?
I first think about what it is that I am writing about? Is it inspirational, a guide to learning about something, a personal experience?
Then I also find I just can't write, like a job, sit down to the computer and write? If there is a deadline to reach, even more difficult
as it gets down to the wire?
Sometimes, it helps to just start writing, without giving it much thought. A start is all it takes. Otherwise, things like meditation or listening to peaceful music can also help. You need to clear the confusion in your mind and channelize your thoughts.
Usually my writers block comes from writing my main story. I then pivot and write another short story ,with totally new characters. Sometimes these stories have even made it on to my main story!
I find it is what is the inspiration of the writing where does it come from, what story does it need to tell or what message do you want your readers to know or think about. Thant makes the difference in all that we try to do, or do and create. So what does one think success is?
Recently had another bout of Writer's block and I just decided to take a break and not force myself into it. I know this might not be possible for everyone since some people write for income, but in my case it was a hobby and I can deal with time off.
Thanks guys for the tips. I have considered taking a break until next year. I will leave everything on my drafts folder. Maybe i will read more and connect with writers during this time. Just to see what they are up to. Mabye when i return to my writing, i will have more ideas or at least they will flow effortlessly.

If that happens, it means you have pushed yourself so much. You will have to take a break from writing. When you come back, you will be more psyched with plenty of ideas.
