I have been trying to lose weight for a while now and just trying to be in better shape. I cut calories, eat healthier, but I am still stuck. A friend of mine started walking at the start of this year and she is already down almost 20 pounds. I also read walking helps with sleep issues and even sparks new creativity which would benefit my writing.

Anyone here go on daily walks?

Walking brings so many things the outdoors and peace of mind an fresh air, and stimulation of the world around us. Second a pair of shoes the cheapest way and inexpensive to keep fit, next get a fit bit or pedometer, to keep your steps and time accountable.

It is the easiest form of exercise there is and it is free to all which is great. I am starting by walking extra steps each day and building up. I hurt my shoulder today which I think was down to me not being used to swinging my arms while walking. I am a work in progress, that is for sure.

I keep telling myself to take an hour walk after work, but I'm just so tired!

True. Walking, especially in the woods or forest helps you to reconnect with nature. It gives you some alone time to think organically. But you should not compare your rate of losing weight with someone else's. Also, loosing weight is a combination of very many complicated aspects.

In order to lose weight, you have to change all your habits, from eating, how you spend your leisure, exercises etc. Not just concentrating on walking alone.

Sure, walking is a good way to reconnect with yourself in silent. It is therapeutic and  quite philosophical. You should spend sometime alone to reflect on yourself. But don't use it as the only exercise for loosing weight. It will disappoint you. You need a combination of many different recommended activities in order to loose weight.

Agreed, I actually use walking more of a "I need to be alone and think" than for exercise haha.

I go on walks every other day, unless I really need one to clear my mind.
